Welcome
I am Alisn Rizzo and this is ME.
Growing up, I played any and every sport I could get into. I quickly fell in love with basketball playing throughout high school and into my freshman year of college; but if you know me, you know I am a little “vertically challenged”. So my passion for the court quickly turned to hitting the pavement running as I competed as a dual-sport athlete my freshmen year of college. I later excelled in running taking 6th place in the marathon during the 2017 NAIA outdoor track and field championship meet, capping off my senior season earning All-American honors with multiple All-Conference honors throughout my career.
After graduating with my B.S in Biology from the University of Saint Mary (USM), I decided to continue my educational career at USM pursing a doctorate in physical therapy (DPT). Staying at USM allowed me to continue competing post-collegiately under my collegiate coach where I lowered my personal record in the marathon to 2:55:29 at the Houston Marathon in January 2019. I have since ran a sub 3 hour marathon another time in December 2019 at CIM in Sacramento.
Since graduating with my DPT in May 2020 mid-pandemic, I decided to tackle as many lifetime milestones I as could because what else was there to do?
I married the love of my life, a lucky Mr. Rizzo, in June 2020, I began my career as a PT in the outpatient setting, and birthed a beautiful baby girl in January 2021. If that’s not enough, we were then stationed out of state in May 2021 bringing us to the great state of Colorado. Since moving to Colorado, we have been lucky enough to welcome another beautiful little girl into the world in November of 2022. I couldn’t be happier with my little family.
As a PT, I thrive in a fast-paced out-patient setting working with active adults and athletes. When outside of the clinic, I am often found running trails trying to get back in running form post-partum, playing with my wild kiddos, or chasing after my dogs while my husband is either out running or decompressing playing video games.
With this blog, I aspire to share my experiences as a first, and now second time mom and military spouse while bringing you along for the craziness of trying to train to be a sub 3 marathoner again while working full-time as a PT and clinic lead. I am a lot of things, a mom, runner, PT, wife, military spouse, and a whole lot of crazy. So welcome to the nut house!
